If you need help filing your taxes, you don't have to go far. Twin Rivers Unified has IRS-certified students who can help you, if you qualify. The Grant Union High School students do free tax returns in partnership with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and the Franchise Tax Board.

Last year they processed 388 returns for a total of $561,094 in tax refunds.

Students go through extensive training and must pass an IRS test to become certified. Working families in the community can call 2-1-1 to schedule an appointment.

Here's the schedule for appointments  at Grant:

  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24
  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 24

GUHS is located at 1400 Grand Avenue, Sacramento.
