Throughout the winter months, nearly 2,200 fifth through eighth grade students, from 76 classrooms, and 20 school sites, participated in the 2016-2017 Public Speaking Contest. After winning in classroom, school and semifinal contests, 12 finalists advanced to the district level competition. From there, our final twelve became four. Four winners, one each from grades 5, 6, 7, and 8. These four, selected for their poise, delivery, presence, and the content of their speech, are:
